African Lion

The lion is the “king of the jungle”, but even those at the top of the animal kingdom are in great danger. The number of lions in the wild has dropped dramatically, and this trend is continuing. Lions aren’t typical farm animals, but thousands of lions are farmed for their bones and other body parts.

    to Tiger bone (Hu gu)
Lion parts have not historically been used as an ingredient in traditional Chinese medicine and are not listed in the current pharmacopeia of the People’s Republic of China or TCM Materia medica. However in recent years, lion parts have been used as a supplement to meet the growing demand for TCM products containing other big-cat parts, such as tiger bone.
